Chez Tortoni is a painting by French artist Édouard Manet, painted ca. 1875. The oil-on-canvas painting measures 26 by 34 inches. The painting hung in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, before it was stolen in 1990.
Édouard Manet (Paris, 23 January 1832 - there, 30 April 1883) was a 19th-century French painter and a key figure in the transition from realism to impressionism. His early masterpieces, such as Le déjeuner sur l'herbe and Olympia, were controversial and inspired a generation of young Impressionist painters.
