Chromatic Motion Figure

by Christian Ovís

‘Chromatic Motion Figure’ depicts a human figure with arms raised wide, composed of thin coloured lines. The head consists of two small open loops in yellow and orange. The torso tapers at the waist and then curves into a broad hip shape. One leg is bent backwards. Red, blue, green, yellow and white stand out vividly against the grey background.

The lines follow parts of the body’s outline, but leave large openings between the arms, chest and legs. At the shoulders, red and light-coloured strips cross each other. A yellow line runs down along the hip and the long leg. Dark reverse sides and small highlights lend a sense of depth to the slender forms. The wide arm position and narrow lower section give the composition a clear sense of balance. Each colour can still be traced individually within the open figure.

This abstract figurative art suits a modern interior with graphic accents and calm base tones. In a living room, hall or creative workspace, the elongated form can serve as a dynamic focal point. A plain wall allows the delicate lines to stand out clearly. From a distance, you recognise the human gesture; up close, the intersections, small loops and varying colour bands catch the eye.
