In 1932 the architect Albert Wiersema from Bedum was commissioned to build a new church for the Reformed congregation in Onderdendam. The building where from 1914 onwards the church was built became too small for the rapidly growing congregation. Wiersema designs a hall church in which the influence of the Amsterdam school style is clearly visible. The fan-shaped bench plan with wooden benches is a good example of this, as is the parabola vaulted with wood, the stage with the pulpit, and the stained-glass windows. The interior is largely in original condition. Also special is the high tower with miter-shaped crowning.
