About ‘Classics’ by Dirk Lahuis

This Fine Art work captures the dynamic transition between two worlds: the volatile outside world and the silence of the street. The composition is an exploration of texture and contrast, contrasting the harsh, tactile environment with this woman's innocent presence.

At the centre of this urban landscape is a human figure, placed at the intersection of reality and reflection. My passion for photography started early, around 1970. In the era of analogue photography, I bought a second-hand Agfa Iso Rapid Ic from my savings. Later, I could afford a new camera, and it became a Pentax K1000. I dreamed of a Contax, a Canon AE-1 or a Hasselblad, but those were out of my reach.
