About ‘Clogs’ by Foto Studio Labie

The clogs shown in this print of black and white photography are probably made of willow or poplar wood, the most commonly used types of wood for this traditional footwear.

The clog is an ancient and sturdy type of shoe that was worn mainly by farmers and workers to protect their feet from mud, cold and injury. The origin of the clog is not entirely certain, but some sources say it came from the south of France and spread along the European coast . The oldest Dutch wooden shoe found dates from around 1230.

The wooden shoe has become a symbol of Dutch culture, although it is not worn much these days. Many tourists associate the wooden shoe with the Netherlands and buy it as a souvenir or decoration. The wooden shoe has also been given a hallmark indicating that it meets certain safety requirements. So the wooden shoe is not only a historical but also a modern product that is still being made and sold.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
