I would like to tell you about my latest MINDWONDER called Havldraumer. The name is Icelandic and means Whale Dreams. The work was inspired by the woman who, last autumn, was in the ridge of a whaler campaigning against whaling in Iceland. Her name is Anahita Babaei. I find it incredibly brave that as a woman she shows such resistance to a world dominated mainly by men.
Whaling is a cruel and unnecessary practice that has been going on for centuries. Whales are intelligent and social animals that play an important role in the ocean ecosystem.
They are gruesomely killed for their meat, oil and baleen, which are used for all kinds of products and purposes. It is a shame that these beautiful creatures have to suffer for human gain.
My artwork also shows a green macaw, a tropical bird that symbolises freedom, beauty and diversity. The macaw is connected to the image of the Brazilian child that also appears on the work.
In Brazil, the green macaw represents the dreams we have for our children's future.
The macaw and the child share the same look of hope and desire for a better world.
The blue macaw represents love for our blue planet. That priceless wondrous planet which changes every day under the influence of our actions.
There are many more small details with references and symbolism in this work. Actually like any of my works. I invite you to take a good look and discover all there is to see. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I did making it.
Nice to have you here!
