I photographed this mountain landscape on the peak called Orenga, which is located right next to the Sierra de Bernia and close to the Mediterranean coast. This peak is not one of the well-known hiking destinations in the region, but is an insider tip off the beaten track. The ascent is rewarded with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. The rock formation known as Morro de l'Aspre rises up in the foreground. Looking into the distance, you can see the peaks of Puig Campana and Monte Ponoig. The clouds and the slightly misty atmosphere inspired me to take this photo. Soft clouds meet hard rock.
On long hikes in the south-east of Spain, I am inspired by the views of the beautiful mountain landscape, but also by the rock formations and regional history. When I am in the mountains and look at the rocks, I think about the meaning of time. Over years, millennia, millions of years, the mountains have been shaped by the forces of Mother Nature. In my opinion, mountain landscapes symbolise the pure beauty of nature that existed long before man - and hopefully will continue to exist for a very long time. This photo is designed to bring some of the magic of the Spanish mountains into your home.
