About "Codex of Silence - Notes in the transition between language, structure and forgetting"

by Klaus Tesching - Art-AI

About the artwork

"Codex of Silence" is a work that leads the viewer into an archaeological depth between language, materiality and dissolution. Like an old manuscript, the picture unfolds in horizontal layers: faded white, earthy beige and reddish-brown framing form the colour base, over which dark, fragmented characters are superimposed like handwritten lines. The writing appears strange and yet familiar - a fleeting moment between communication and loss.

The lines are reminiscent of sheet music or diary pages, but also of censorship strips or damaged archive remnants. The black ink stains, smudges and seemingly erased areas suggest a turbulent moment of creation - as if this text had been painted against disappearance. The top right-hand corner appears to be criss-crossed by a white tear, as if a burst of light has broken through or a memory has suddenly been erased.

"Codex of Silence" speaks of that which is no longer legible and yet continues to have an effect. It is a work about language without words, about time that is reflected in signs - only to immediately disappear again. The effect is intense and meditative at the same time.

This picture is suitable for spaces of thought and reflection - libraries, studios, places of remembrance. It is not a loud work of art, but a silent testimony - to an inner world that stands on the threshold between form and dissolution.
