Cold Couture — An Impossible Photoshoot is a piece from my Olafique collection, a series in which I create cinematic, staged images with a dark undertone. In this collection, I explore beauty, power, detachment and the tension between what feels real and what is entirely constructed.

In this image, a model stands in a red high-fashion couture dress in the middle of a cold stream. Everything appears to be perfectly staged: her posture, her gaze, the dress, the light and the surroundings. Yet something feels off. A precious dress does not belong in flowing water. A model should not stand emotionless and unmoved in a wet, cold environment. It is precisely this contrast that forms the core of the work.

The scene alludes to the world of high fashion, advertising photography and beauty campaigns, in which beauty is often presented as something self-evident, perfect and desirable. But behind that idealised image often lies a façade. The model becomes a surface, a vessel for luxury, desire and commerce. Her gaze remains closed, as if emotion has no place within the image demanded of her.

The red dress catches the eye like fire in a cold, dark setting. Here, red symbolises strength, seduction, warmth and danger all at once. Behind her, shapes of mist and light subtly suggest angelic wings. Not as a literal fairy-tale motif, but as a reference to purity, gentleness and human beauty — precisely what is often lost in the perfect advertising image.

Cold Couture — An Impossible Photoshoot explores the unrealistic ideal of beauty created by fashion, photography and commerce. The image is alluring, yet also unsettling. It presents beauty as a mask: impressive on the surface, but cold, controlled and inhuman the longer you look.
