Comanche First People's Power
One of a serie of images of once powerfull native american tribes. Based on Sculptures I made.
The Comanche were the dominant people of the south west roughly from 1750 to 1850. They extracted resources and labour from their euro-american and indian neighbours. without fully recognizing it, the spaniards, french, mexicans and anglo americans were all restrained and overshadowed in the continents center by an indigenous empire. the Comanche empire. By the end of 1851 smallpox epidemic followed by a cholera epidemic shrunk the number of Comanches from an estimated 20.000 to fewer than 12.000.
