Common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) also known as the Eurasian kingfisher, and river kingfisher sitting on a branch overlooking a small pond. The bird is drying his feathers by shaking of waterdrops.
The Kingfisher is adapted for diving and catching fish, with its eyesight specially adapted to be able to see prey underwater. It can dive into the water from a perch above, and its streamlined body and wings make it a swift swimmer. The bird also has a unique adaptation where its bill is slightly longer and curved downwards to help it grab fish from the water.
