Composition of 3 nude models and a painter in an academic setting - Oil on corrugated board. Pieter Ringoot (1921 - 2011)
Nude studies are an essential part of an art education. During Pieter's various academic studies, he studied human anatomy extensively as an artist. He did so in many ways, with various materials and on different surfaces.
The composite with the model (it is the same woman three times) was painted in the academy of Dendermonde (East Flanders - Belgium) in the late 1980s. Often these kinds of works were also finished in the studio in Lebbeke
Corrugated cardboard seems a somewhat strange substrate for this artwork. However, because a number of family members worked in a corrugated board factory in Buggenhout (East Flanders - Belgium), Pieter could easily obtain large white sheets of corrugated board. He therefore made several works on this material.
The observant viewer will detect the material's characteristic ridges or waves in the image.
