Rice birds in the forest.
The rice bird is a species of finch, a small bird with a striking red eye.
The rice bird or glatik (Lonchura oryzivora) is native to Java, as well as Bali and Indonesia. Oryzivora is Latin for "rice-eater," a trait that has made these birds unpopular. As a result, their numbers have been greatly reduced by rice farmers, making this bird an endangered species in its native habitat today.
