This image was taken during the construction of the shopping mall "Höfe am Brühl", which was built along the former fur boulevard Brühl in the center of Leipzig. The isolated façade piece stems from the original Kaufhaus am Brühl of 1908, which was severely damaged in WW2 and subsequently rebuilt into the famous "Blechbüchse". The department store "Konsument" with its striking aluminum curtain wall opened in 1968. Today the façade element is integrated in the new building of the Höfe am Brühl, but contrary to the original plans it is not visible from the outside.
On the right in the background you can see the Evangelical Reformed Church on Tröndlinring, on the left the Hotel Fürstenhof.
