About ‘Consumed By Rage’ by Art By Coolen

Consumed By Rage captures the force of anger as it takes up ever more space. Vivid red and warm orange tones flow around deep black, rounded shapes. White highlights give the composition a glossy, almost liquid quality, as though something were bubbling beneath the surface, ready to erupt.

The twisting lines guide your gaze past waves, droplets and small bubbles. The shapes seem to swell, contract and propel one another forward. The stark contrast between red and black creates tension, evoking the heat of an emotion that is difficult to contain.

Consumed By Rage is part of a series of six abstract works in which colour and organic shapes evoke different emotional worlds. Across the series, the same visual language takes on a distinct emotional character in each piece: from calm and love to rage, unease, desire and emptiness.

Within this series, Consumed By Rage represents the moment when anger seems to colour everything. The reds fill the image to its edges, just as rage can consume your thoughts. An intense composition that conveys pent-up tension and the urge to release it.
