Container ship inbound in storm off Rotterdam

Big bow waves the crew look out towards the piers of the port of Rotterdam. The storm on the North Sea grey clouds churning sea. Containers come through for the port of Rotterdam. The green barrel with Maas 1 says the coast is in sight the lee of the port. The Maas estuary and Maasvlakte is passed and then Hoek van Holland is in sight for the turn to the Beer Canal. Then the loading and unloading of containers begins.

Port photography is a fascinating form of photography that focuses on capturing the activity in ports. Port cities are often bustling centres of trade and industry, with ships, trucks and trains moving back and forth to load and unload goods. This offers photographers the opportunity to capture beautiful images of large ships docked at the quayside, crane machines loading and unloading containers from and onto the ships, and workers busy at work.
