The Cormorant in flight, Phalacrocorax carbo. The bird lives in large breeding colonies of sometimes 5000 birds. Each nest hatch about 3 eggs. Professional fishermen have a great resistance against these birds because they consume large numbers of fish. A cormorant eats 500-1000 grams of fish per day. The bird looks black at a distance but is dark brown in various shades. There are about 30 different species of Cormorants known.
