Tasmania is easily the most beautiful state in Australia. And its biggest attraction, Dove lake in front of Cradle mountain, has been a top three hike for me by a distance in a year of travel.
Pointed mountains tower over the lake. The scenery here is so fairytale-like, I imagine myself on a set of Lord Of The Rings.
The ambiance of the lake slowly swallows all attention. The weather here changes every four minutes. Sometimes there is thick fog, other times it rains. Then the sun breaks through. The scenery itself also turns like a leaf from a tree at every turn. Steppes, rocky landscapes, forests, swamps, I feast my eyes. The little hut that stands mysteriously at the edge of the lake still raises the most questions. Is it for boats? Shelter?
On top of the mountains, I see people poking through the mystical mist, engaged in the much longer multi-day hike. I would actually like to do that too... I will come back here someday!
