Pacu Jawi (Cow Race) is often held after harvesting the rice or before planting, as entertainment and amusement for the farmers even as for the people living nearby and tourists. The rice fields are also ploughed over in this way by the cows' hooves. Bukittinggi is located near Padang in West Sumatra, Indonesia.
