About ‘Cross rock curve’ by Hans-Bernd Lichtblau

By far the most dangerous bend on the busy main road is the 360-degree bend that leads around the Kreuzfelsen just above the Ravenna gorge. The bend is not only spectacular, but also an accident blackspot, although the cause is almost always the same: excessive speed. Time and again, lorries are involved in accidents, although the speed limit at Kreuzfelsen is 10 km/h. Some of them have overturned. Some lorries have already overturned there. But car drivers also underestimate the bend time and again.

On the nine kilometres through the Höllental valley, it is not only the bend that is spectacular, but also the Hirschsprung, where a stag jumped over the gorge with a mighty leap and still greets you from high up on the rock, the Höllental railway line, which crosses the mighty viaduct over the Ravenna gorge and the small Oswald chapel, the oldest church in the region at Hofgut Sternen. An outstanding experience is a hike through the wild and romantic Ravenna Gorge with its rocks, waterfalls and mills.
