A Kunuku house or slave house is a rural dwelling by slaves on the Leeward Islands of Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire.Kunuku means 'plantation' (and also 'countryside') after a style from Africa.
When slavery was abolished on July 1, 1863, the former slaves were given small plots of land which they could use to grow food.
