Danaë is a figure from Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Eurydike and Akrisios, king of Argos. She is the mother of the demigod Perseus.
When an oracle predicts that Akrisios will one day be murdered by a grandson, Akrisios decides to lock his only daughter Danaë in a bronze tower until she is too old to have children. During her imprisonment, however, Danaë is fertilized by the supreme god Zeus.
The woman is almost always depicted naked in a portrait and here too the girl plays the leading role in a nude portrait. Because she is lying naked on the bed, her legs, belly and torso with breasts are barely visible.
All in all, a sexy and sensually erotic picture.
