'Dancer' or 'Dancer' is a very special work of art for me personally because I spent almost half my life on stage as a dancer. Wonderful sport, with so much beauty. But unfortunately also has a very dark and heavy other side. That is why I chose the contrasting and sombre colours to emphasise the atmosphere and that 'dark side' of the portrait. I deliberately combined the pencils and water colours, to show the difference in tones and details more. I therefore added confetti painting to create more depth. I chose a heavily made-up face with distinct colours as a clear symbol of a mask as a symbol of artificial beauty, perfectionism, big ego, power and twisted world. For women the masks are sometimes necessary to survive, perform and adapt in society. I depicted the look of her eyes with the vulnerability, insecurity, limitation to be herself and sadness. Therefore, beauty can sometimes be hellishly complex and confusing.
