Wadden Island Texel is a world apart. Away from the grand scale of the mainland. Especially outside the summer season, it is wonderfully quiet. Cycling and walking along the dike along the Wadden Sea to the east is a delight. Pure freedom even when the wind blows hard.
The Slufter is a unique area with an open connection to the North Sea. It is part of the Dunes of Texel National Park. The landscape changes constantly with the tides. In part, you can walk there freely and walk to the North Sea beach. You will find unique flora and fauna, especially birds.
The photo was taken in autumn and looks out on the passage that flows into the sea.
Landscapes and townscapes are my favourite subjects. I search for beauty in the image; that can come from any of the compositional elements such as lines, shapes, rhythms, light/dark, colour combinations. For me a photograph is successful, when I can hang it on the wall.. Read more…
