"Hottest, driest, and lowest.
Hottest' means that temperatures of fifty degrees can easily be reached during the summer in Death Valley. With only a fraction of the precipitation that falls in a normal desert, 'driest' can also be explained. Finally, 'Lowest' refers back to Badwater, the lowest point in the western hemisphere, located 86 metres below sea level.
