Delft Blue Parrot

by Christian Ovís

‘Delft Blue Parrot’ depicts a parrot sitting upright on a small decorated plinth. Its head is turned to the left, with a dark, curved beak and a bright eye. Blue leaves and tendrils run across the white head and neck. On the folded wing, a large flower rests amongst the delicate feather patterns. The long tail hangs diagonally down to the bottom right.

The bird stands out against a black background. The light falls mainly on the head, the breast and the top of the wing. The blue feathers grow darker towards the tail and are separated by narrow light lines. Beneath the legs is a small round base, supported by a broad blue-and-white base. The decoration on this base complements the flowers on the body. In this way, the entire design forms a single, tranquil, vertical whole.

This bird wall decoration will appeal to lovers of parrots, botanical patterns and the classic colours of Delft blue. In a reading nook, living room or hall, its elongated shape can add an elegant touch. A minimalist interior allows the bird and the decorated base to stand out beautifully. From a distance, the bird’s posture and beak are particularly recognisable; up close, the small feathers, flowers and tendrils catch the eye.
