About ‘Diamond Cubic’ by Elke Stangl (elkement)
The crystal structure of diamond (pure carbon) - colored pencils on black paper.
Two face-centered cubic lattices, shifted by one fourth of the space diagonals of one of the cubes. The atoms on the shifted positions become the centers of tetrahedrons formed by four atoms of the unshifted part.

In a world of AI, I am exploring what it means to be a human creator - wielding pencils and code precisely and slowly. Trying to keep an ancient craft alive and celebrating science and engineering culture!
I am a physicist and engineer inspired by vintage patent drawings, Sir Roger Penrose’s handcrafted sketches, and M.C. Escher.
