Feynman diagrams - reproduced from a 1949 paper by Richard Feynman, one of the earliest publications featuring his infamous diagrams. The title is an expression taken from the abstract of the paper.
Watercolor pencil and fine liner on watercolor paper, glued to foam board, varnished with spray coating.
The diagrams are related to interactions of particles. They look like illustrations of particles bumping into each other, but they are actually mnemonics for integrals.
These diagrams remind me of the time, when software was neither ubiquitous nor convenient, and when you had to get creative to comprehend these mathematical expressions.
Feynman was also a synaesthete - he saw mathematical equations in colors. I hope he would like my version!
