I love the way this soft pink dog rose, rosa canina, has grown up and into the teucrium hedge growing alongside it. The dog rose is a climbing plant with hooked prickles that act like grappling hooks. These enable it to grow up against or through other plants as here. In this case, the two plants compliment each other beautifully! The dog rose flowers, with their sweet scent, attract pollinators, as do the highly perfumed blue flowers of the teucrium. The teucrium flowers a few months earlier than the dog rose which I feel takes advantage of all the early work put in by the other plant. I guess it is a balance between the two, as I have endeavoured to depict here in this photo art image.
