Dorothea Maetzel-Johannsen (1886-1930) was a German painter known for her expressionist works. Born in Hamburg, she was part of the Hamburg Secession and the artists' group "Die Brücke". Maetzel-Johannsen devoted herself primarily to the depiction of people and everyday scenes, using bold colours and dynamic forms. Her artistic output was unfortunately limited by a short lifespan, but she left behind a significant contribution to the German Expressionist movement.
