"Drops lying on the petal" is a macro photo of water drops on (and attached to) a hyacinth petal. Because it is only a very small piece that is photographed, and the focus in the photo is on a small piece, it creates an image you don't immediately recognise: abstraction. The colours in this work are mainly shades of brown and grey. This work could be described as modern abstract, but because the focus is on a number of drops, there is still something to hold on to in the work, something that is recognisable, making you feel something of recognition! The round shapes of the drops in this work give it something soft and calm. On the other hand, the lighting, editing, colours and contrast create a kind of tension.
This work could, for example, be beautifully hung as wall decoration in a waiting room, bedroom, hallway or, of course, just above the couch!
