From uithuizen, we drive along the long Lauwersweg road to the Groningen Wadden coast. It is low tide today around sunset, so we hope to see the beautiful cracks on the Wadden.
We put on our wading suits and climb up the dike. Once at the top of the dike, we see the Wadden, and yes, the structures are already clearly visible.
We look for a nice spot and decide to walk a bit up the mudflats. I soon find out that this is not the wisest choice, after about 4 metres you sink in quite a bit. Especially if you stay in one spot for too long.
I decide to walk back again but I can't, I'm stuck. With a lot of pulling and tugging I manage to free myself from the mud. I lose my balance and catch myself with my left hand, which also disappears into the dark mud. I am helped by my fellow photographer and this is how I manage to get out.
Lesson for today, don't go too far into the mudflats with a wading suit.
Still, I was able to take this photo where my fall and footsteps are not visible.
We were able to catch the most beautiful colours of this sunset, because not much later the light unfortunately disappears.
On home with the smell of the Wadden.
