Dune reed is a perennial plant belonging to the grass family. The plant is native to Eurasia. In the Netherlands, the plant is mostly found in the dunes and in the wadden region. The plant is 0.6-2 m high, has very long, thin rhizomes and forms loose turfs or bushes.
