About the artwork
A Dutch sky. A cloud with raindrops, like the icon on your phone or in the weather report.
Actually, these are not raindrops, but a blurred flight of birds.
This creates an airy and playful image of a Holland sky.
The photo is part of the project "Handleiding tot een speelser leven," which aimed to portray playfulness, lightness, acceptance, chance. Less perfection, striving and planning. Because that's where we all... Or let me speak for myself: because I really do need that from time to time, as a change from all the usefulness, responsibility and seriousness.
This photo (as part of the photo series) has been nominated for several awards, and has been exhibited at the Amsterdam Centre for Photography, Designhuis Eindhoven, Kunstmuseum (The Hague), Breda Photo International photo festival and the Shanghai Biennale 2010, among others.
This work has not been substantively modified in a photo editing programme. Some colour corrections have been made, but otherwise everything you see in this photo has really been there.
