The picture shows one bronze statue of 'the family' on the artwork 'The egg of Ko'. The artwork stands on the square in front of Enschede city hall for the municipality of Enschede. The designer, artist Joop Hekman, did not give it a name but the municipality of Enschede calls it The Family. By the citizenry, the oval brick-built construction with sculpture group was immediately called The Ko Egg after its installation in 1984, after the then mayor Ko Wierenga.
The artwork on Langestraat in front of Enschede's city hall is composed of several ellipses. Near a water feature, an almost life-size family group is situated in bronze consisting of man, woman, child and dog. The photo shows the man with the tower of the city hall behind him.
The artwork is one of Enschede's most famous spots. Especially in summer, it is a popular spot where people meet, eat an ice cream or listen to a street musician. Children like to play with the water there.
