This is a photo art image shows what is immediately above the entrance to the Cardamom Building Apartments in Shad Thames. As well as the date (1891) and some interesting mosaic detail, there is a marble plaque that appears to be missing. Shad Thames is now a trendy upmarket area with luxury apartments, shops and restaurants. But it used to be part of the wharf area connected to Butler's Wharf. The metal connecting ramps for transferring goods can still be seen in the area as they were retained during the area's extensive renovation. Cardamom Building is in fact a converted spice warehouse, as the name might suggest.
