The Fairchild PT-26A is a teaching aircraft with a tandem cockpit, with non-retractable landing gear and tailwheel. The aircraft has a fabric-covered welded tubular steel fuselage. There is also the necessary wood incorporated into the aircraft.
The Fairchild Model 62A-3 or PT-26A evolved from the Fairchild Model 62 or PT-19. The Model 62 was designed by Fairchild Aircraft in 1938 to meet military demand for a training aircraft.
