Falbe amongst shimmering soap bubbles against a dark background by Laura Georgi Tier- und Ladschaftsfotografie

A dun horse stands facing the camera in the darkness, its head slightly lowered, looking over its own shoulder. Dozens of soap bubbles float around it, refracting the light into shades of turquoise, violet and yellow. Its coat is sandy in colour, with a dark mane and legs, and a broad white blaze running across its nose. The ground is visible as a light-coloured strip at the bottom of the picture.

Falben horses have wild-coloured markings: dark legs, a dark dorsal stripe running down the back, a dark mane and a dark tail against a light-coloured body. It is one of the oldest coat colours in existence and remains the colour of the Przewalski’s horse to this day. Horses are flight animals and normally react with suspicion to unfamiliar floating objects. The fact that this animal stands calmly amongst the bubbles says more about its composure than any pose ever could.

This is the most cheerful motif in the series. It is perfect for children’s bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, outdoor cafés and anywhere else where a serious horse portrait might seem too austere. The splashes of colour from the bubbles complement almost any wall colour.

The bubbles shimmer most vividly on acrylic glass, whilst on canvas the atmosphere is softer. A gift for children, for horse-riding enthusiasts and for anyone looking for an animal picture with a touch of humour.
