About ‘False celestial body’ by Maik Weidemann
A deeply moving, surrealist acrylic painting with an emotional message about species conservation. An extinct thylacine gazes longingly from our barren moon – for him, the wrong celestial body – back towards his lost homeland, the bright blue Earth. I created this work in 2026 on art board. The original measures 50×50 cm.

My art is predominantly a mixture of fantasy and the reality that surrounds me. I often want to use my pictures to express myself on topical issues such as climate change and/or species extinction.
