This little swimmer with shiny transparent skin has extremely sensitive eyes and tentacles. This allows it to find its way in a habitat without light. It effortlessly blends into any cabinet of curiosities and likes to chill out and be admired.
This particular invertebrate was found at almost unreachable depths, in oceans far away. Due to its harsh habitat and icy waters, this exotic species has not been observed by humans before. In my role as 'Marine Biologist Inventor', I photographed it, gave it a Latin name and noted down details such as location and size.
Material & method KeiDiep species:
The KeiDiep avatars consist of photo parts, photographed both indoors and outdoors. Things that catch my eye such as: organic material with a 'skin', plants, washed-up wood, etc. Or parts of existing photos or objects. With these parts, I digitally build, paste, cut and polish a new character. Finally, I suggest depth, with shadow and transparency. As a result, some KeiDiep avatars consist of many (200 and more) different parts: a wonderful time-consuming shaping puzzle.
Inspiration: nature, everything that grows fascinates and inspires. New species are discovered and others disappear. Special outward appearances, amazing habits and characteristics of animals. They trigger my imagination to shape a species catalogue. With a nod for joy and lightness.
