Ferris wheel at the fairground - Dippemess in Frankfurt: The Frankfurt Dippemess, the largest and oldest Frankfurt fair, is known far beyond the region. It was first mentioned in writing in the 14th century. Back then, the Maamess ("Main Fair"), as it was known, was a medieval market for household goods of all kinds. Potters from the Westerwald, the Kannenbäckerland and Urberach sold their products here, especially their ceramic bowls and pots, known in Frankfurt as "Dippe" for short, which soon gave the event its name.
