About ‘Fiat 127’ by Jaco Verheul

The Fiat 127 is a car produced by Italian automaker FIAT between 1971 and 1983. The car was introduced in 1971 as the successor to the Fiat 850. Italian production ended in 1983 after the introduction of the Fiat Uno, in South America the 127 remained in production until 1996.

Based on the Fiat 128, Fiat began developing a smaller model, the Fiat 127, in 1971. This model was a better match for the progressive technology in terms of design and was rewarded with the title of "Car of the Year" in 1972.
