Just outside the IJsselpoort is the 'fire house' with stepped gable and red tile saddle roof, built in 1622. The building has had several functions. In 1769 it was described as a 'poortershuysje'. Built as a guardhouse or tollhouse, it later became a storage place for a 'Jan van der Heyden' fire hose. For this reason, this monument is known as a fire engine house.
There used to be a double wooden door in the front. During a restoration in 1972 a historicizing shop front was placed.
