The former fish auction hall is now an event centre in Hamburg Altona. The upper glass surfaces are illuminated in changing colours.
During storm surges, the low-lying area is under water and the Elbe practically flows through the hall. The gates are opened so that the water can drain away again. The photo shows the bridge to the HADAG ferry pier in the foreground. These can be used as a means of public transport to explore the area on the Elbe.
