When you go or drive from Burgh-haamstede to vrouwenpolder you'll pass the Oosterschelde and the Veerse Meer (Lake), respectively on the Oosterscheldekering and the Veerse Gatdam. The last (built in 1961) is of course on the Veerse Lake that contains light salty water. When you stay on the parking, you see on some spots gear/fishing gear in the water. These are poles with nets that fishermen have turned off.
The whole gives a beautiful serene spectacle in some weather conditions. The Lake is busy in the summer by boaters. One can about 22 km long sail to towns like Kamperland, Geersdijk, Kortgene, Veere and Wolphaartsdijk. Also you can with your boat to one of the islands to stay overnight.
On the side where the gear is one can at a jetty construction and thus enter the dunes via a pedestrian bridge. Behind it, you will find the beach and the North Sea.
