Long before we 'd wake up in the morning, fishermen in the Algarve are already busy supplying local markets with fresh fish. Here you can see a fishing boat returning to Lagos harbour just after dawn to deliver its catch.
The pier you see is just outside the city centre and in the storm season it holds back the big waves that pass here. The dark spots in the water are pieces of seaweed, which drift towards the coast after a storm and wash up on the beach. After a few days of drying out in the sun, the local Facebook groups are full of complaining locals (mostly British expats) who think the municipality should clean it up. But then again, such is nature!
