About ‘Fishing for Skies, Part 1’ by Lichtveld

A view of the Wadden Sea from the Afsluitdijk. The fish trap lends the image a sense of scale and atmosphere. Thanks to a long exposure of 140 seconds on a grey day, the water of the Wadden Sea has become as smooth as glass, yet shadows are still visible. The contrast with and within the sky completes ‘ '’ – stillness and dynamism captured in a single image.

The interplay where water, sky and land meet fascinates me. The Netherlands, a land of water, has many beautiful spots that are frequently captured in photographs. The challenge is to find a fresh perspective. That certainly applies to this image. Following the raising of the Afsluitdijk, this scene can no longer be captured; the fish traps have disappeared. I’m glad I was able to take this photograph. This photo has been hanging on the wall in my home for many years now and is a timeless classic.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
