Five purple lupines, photographed on a sunny day in May. To be precise, the botanical name is perennial lupine, or Lupinus polyphyllus.
Two of the five lupines are a bit larger; you would almost think it was a family with three children. This work would therefore do well on the wall in the house of such a family. But nature lovers from other family compositions will also appreciate the picture.
The perennial lupine is native to North America but has been growing in Europe since the nineteenth century. I found these five in the area of the volcanic lakes near Schalkenmehren in the Eifel region of Germany.
