This work shows a fjord on the Kenai peninsula in southern Alaska. A Northern Petrel (Fulmarus glacialis) flies above the water. I took the picture in bad weather from a boat. It rained occasionally and there was a strong wind. Every now and then a little light came through the clouds; a kind of bright spot in a gloomy world. The photo in its straightforward form is not very interesting, nor does it capture the atmosphere of light in a gloomy world that I felt when I took it. I therefore stylised the photo using Photoshop to create the underlying result. For me, this image captures the mood that lay over this landscape when I pressed the shutter.
