The flag of the Netherlands symbolizes the Netherlands and the unity and independence of the entire Kingdom of the Netherlands. The red-white-blue is in use both on land and at sea as a civilian flag, service flag and war flag.
The Dutch flag is a horizontal tricolor in red, white and blue. In the flag instruction of the Ministry of General Affairs, the colors are named as bright vermillion, bright white and cobalt blue. Standard sheet 3055 defines these colors in Éclairage coordinates. These colors are not directly convertible into Pantone coding, so varying values are used for the latter.
There are no regulations about the dimensions of the flag. In the unratified Flag Act of 1937, the ratio of height to length was set as 2:3, and generally this ratio is still followed. The three bands are of equal height.
